PRDC 2019 @ Kyoto

Last week, I visited Kyoto in Japan to present my recent research about Cloud computing as PRDC (Pacific Rim International Symposium on Dependable Computing) 2019. I’m currently in a computer science doctoral course studying distributed computing, and I have reported a recent study at the conference.

I research about autonomous recovery for Cloud computing, and so I reported an autonomous recovery framework based on root cause analysis called μQoS with a shape based root cause algorithm called RootShape [1][2].

My research supervisor is Prof. Défago, and I talked with Dr. Hayashibara in PRDC (Pacific Rim International Symposium on Dependable Computing) 2019 about their recent research area. In distributed computing, their major research is known as the φ accrual failure detector[3], and it is implemented as the basis of the failure detection mechanism for Apache Cassandra, Akka, and Node.js. I asked about new research topics in failure detection, but they replied that failure detection is already a practical technology and it is not a hot research area now.

In Kyoto, I could visit Fushimi Inari Taisha which is near Kyoto station. Recently, I am also studying distributed database systems. I hope to present a new research theme at another conference in the near future.
